CATSUP 
1 gal. tomato juice
2 c. sugar
2 c. vinegar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 onion, cut up fine
2 tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. pepper

Bring to boil, then turn down just so it bubbles and stir, about 3 hours. Then it should be thick. Place in jars. Makes 3 pints.
