IRISH SODA BREAD 
8 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. caraway seed
2/3 c. shortening
3 c. raisins
2 eggs
3 c. buttermilk

Mix together the dry ingredients. Mix in shortening until crumbly. Add raisins which have been steamed in a small amount of hot water. Beat eggs and add the eggs and buttermilk. Knead lightly on floured board until smooth. Shape into round loaves and place in greased 9 inch round pans. With sharp knife, cut a cross on top of bread. Bake at 375 degrees for about 40 minutes or until done. This recipe makes 4 loaves.
