AUNT BILL'S MICROWAVE CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped pecans

Combine sugar, soda, buttermilk and butter in large bowl. (Do not use plastic.) Cover with plastic wrap; punch holes in wrap. Microwave on HIGH for 2 1/2 minutes; stir and turn dish. Continue cooking for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.

Return to microwave for 2 minutes or until soft ball forms in cold water or until it tests 236 degrees on a candy thermometer. (Do not put thermometer in microwave.)

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
