BRAG'S SWEET ROLL DOUGH
2 pkg. active dry yeast
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Scald milk and cool to about 115 degrees. Stir milk, sugar, salt, eggs, softened shortening and 2 1/2 cups flour into the yeast mixture. Mix in enough of the remaining flour to make dough easy to handle. Turn onto a lightly floured board. Knead until smooth, about 5 minutes.

Let rise in warm place until doubled, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Punch down dough. Shape into rolls or coffee cake, depending on what you are making. Let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees until well browned.
