Brownies from a Cake Mix

I just made these a few minutes ago. I followed a few suggestions--added 1 tbsp of oil, and also mixed that with the egg and water before adding everything together. I found it impossible to mix with a spoon or fork at one point, so I just mixed it all together by hand until it was fully combined. This was the THICKEST batter ever--more like a dough! Had to use a cup to help roll it out evenly into the pan. Anyway, these turned out awesome! They remind me of the prepackaged brownies that come in a box. Not fluffy, just moist and chewy. Very good and will definitely make again, but next time in a smaller pan so they'l be thicker.

They are baking now!!!! Took the advice of some extra oil. Added peppermint extract.

It was HARD to mix, so I used a zippy bag and tossed everything in there and squished it up like a dough, then used the same bag to smush the "batter" into the pan.

Excited to see how they turn out!

I had a generic chocolate cake mix so I added 2 tbsp. of Special Dark Cocoa powder. I took the advice contributed here by others and mixed the egg with the liquid (I used oil instead of water) first. Still too crumbly so I added a tbsp. of leftover brewed coffee. Still too crumbly so finally, 2 tbsp. of of water. Good to go... I barely got the dough into the pan. It is a big thick glob of a thing. I read the page of comments before I made them so I was prepared for the play dough like batter. They are perfect! I am a chewy, fudgy brownie lovin' girl so I am happy. Next time, I will bake closer to 20 than 25 minutes. Also, I used an air bake pan. Thanks for the help! Fun, easy recipe.

OK, I used 1/2 cup water, 2 eggs, a pinch of nutmeg and 2 tbsp. of oil. This made it more mixable. I mixed the liquid first, then the cake mix. I scraped what I could into the pan, spread it out. I put 3 tbsp. of peanut butter in the same bowl and folded it together so I was able to mix the batter and peanut butter, this I spread on top! I think I'm in love! It took 5 min to make and 20 or so minutes to cook but only 10 for my large family to smell and devour!

I made these with a swiss cake mix which was too bland, maybe If I added some nuts it would have been better. I had a very thick batter and I worked with it, added oil, but I really felt like it was a cake type brownie and not moist at all! SO this is a good recipe but I think it depends on the flavor of cake you use.. I would try this with a dark choc cake with nuts sometime again! They were thick but too dry.

Made them according to directions here. Very thick but batter tasted delicious and the tiny bite I had was good (wish I had seen also adding some oil) anyway I added 3/4 cup chocolate chips. Makes it AMAZING!!!
