2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3 or 4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to above. Add vanilla. Add flour, a little at a time. May need more flour after testing a couple. Drop on cookie sheet, sprinkle sugar on top. Bake at 350 degrees about 5 to 6 minutes.
