BUTTERMILK SUGAR COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening -or- 1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour (or more)
Dash of nutmeg -or- cinnamon (optional)

Blend and mix all ingredients well. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes in a preheated 375°F oven. Very, very good.

Very good cookies, I added almond extract instead of vanilla, delicious. Only draw back they were to puffy for my taste. Would have flattened them with a glass bottom dipped in sugar before baking

These did not really turn out like cookies... More like cake. But they tasted great. They definitely need frosting! Or maybe a lemon glaze.
