SWEET POTATO BREAD 
1 c. self-rising flour
1 c. grated sweet potato
1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Enough milk for thick batter

Cut shortening into flour, add sugar. Add egg, flavorings and milk. This batter should be very thick. Mix in grated potato and spread evenly in well- greased and floured 9-inch square pan. Bake in 350 degree oven until lightly brown on top and center springs back when touched.
