APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. butter
6 to 8 apples
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

Combine sugar, water and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and boil. Remove and add 1/4 cup butter. Se aside.

Peel and core apples. Combine sugar, cinnamon and salt in a bowl. Put apples in the bowl and coat apples with mixture.

Mix flour, salt, baking powder and shortening. Add milk. Stir to make a soft dough. Press into a ball. Roll out and cut into squares large enough to cover each apple. Wrap each apple with dough edges closed at top. Put apples into baking dish. Pour syrup over top of apples. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
