GROUND BEEF CASSEROLE 
1 med. onion, chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. salt
1 #2 can tomatoes
1 (8 oz.) pkg. wide noodles
3 slices American cheese
4 tbsp. butter
Pinch of pepper
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. flour

Saute onion in 2 tablespoons butter. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, cook until brown. Drain tomatoes reserving juice. Mix pulp with meat. Cook noodles; drain. Add remaining 2 tablespoons butter, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper, to noodles. Toss noodles until well coated. Blend tomato juice with flour and sugar; then mix thoroughly with noodles.

Line bottom and sides of a 2 quart casserole with noodles. Fill center with meat mixture. Place cheese slices on top of meat. Bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serves 6.
