WACKY CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
5 tbsp. melted butter
1 c. water

Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl. Gradually add the liquids and stir as little as possible to get ingredients mixed. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Do not remove from pan. When cool, ice cake and serve from the pan.

CHOCOLATE ICING FOR WACKY CAKE:

1 c. sugar
1/2 stick butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1 tbsp. cane or Karo syrup
1 c. whole milk or cream

Heat all ingredients slowly until mixture boils. Boil until a small amount forms a soft ball when dropped into cold water from a spoon. Beat immediately until of spreading consistency. Spread on cake. This is a favorite of the entire Tanner family.
