PEANUT BLOSSOM COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 (5 3/4 oz.) pkg. chocolate candy kisses

Blend thoroughly together shortening, peanut butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla; blend well. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt and blend with mixture. Shape scant teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, roll each in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven.

Top each cookie with a chocolate kiss, pressing down until cookie cracks around edge.

Bake 3-5 minutes more. Makes about 6 dozen.
