DIAMOND CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg, well beaten
2 squares melted chocolate
1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening with sugar. Add egg, chocolate, milk, and vanilla; beating well. Add dry ingredients, beating well. Stir in nuts.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
