DIXIE PECAN PIE 
1/3 c. shortening or butter
1 c. halved or chopped pecans
1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. light brown sugar
3 beaten eggs (Egg Beaters okay)
1 c. light corn syrup
Raw pie crust

Blend shortening and brown sugar. Add other ingredients and mix well with a rotary beater. Pour into raw pie crust and put in oven at 425 degrees for 10 minutes (to cook the crust), then reduce heat to 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove when top is browned all over and no longer liquid in center.
