POUND CAKE 
3 sticks butter
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. lemon extract or 1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1/2 tsp. almond extract
7/8 c. ginger ale or club soda

1. Cream butter until light with an electric mixer.

2. Cream in sugar and beat until fluffy.

3. Beat in 1 egg at a time.

4. Beat in 1 cup of flour and put in the extracts.

5. Add a little ginger ale.

6. Continue adding flour alternating with ginger ale until all the ingredients are used. Bake in preheated oven 275 for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Makes 2 (9x5) loaves or 1 (10 inch) bunt pan greased and floured.
