OLD FASHION CRISP OATMEAL
COOKIES
 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. oats
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Cream shortening and sugars; add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add oats and nuts and mix well. Shape into rolls, wrap in waxed paper and chill thoroughly. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
