TRANSPARENT PIE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, separated

Cream butter and sugar; add small amount of milk, then flour. Add beaten egg yolks with rest of milk. Add vanilla. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into unbaked pie shell.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until center of pie doesn't "shake" when pie is moved.

I usually double this recipe and get 3 small pies.
