TRANSPARENT PIE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. butter
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. milk
4 eggs (2 yolks) (whip whites for top)
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together sugar, butter, flour milk, 2 egg yolks and vanilla. Mix well and pour into pie crust.

Bake at 375°F for 45 to 55 minutes, until knife inserted into pie comes out clean. Whip egg whites with 1/4 cup sugar until stiff and put on top of pie.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until delicately browned.

Note: The pie is just as good without the meringue on top.
