OUR BEST BANANA BREAD | |
2 1/4 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking power 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. coarsely chopped black walnuts 1/3 c. shortening 2/3 c. sugar 2 eggs 2/3 c. bananas 2 tsp. lemon juice 1/4 tsp. buttermilk Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together. Add nuts. Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Beat in egg one at a time, sprinkle the lemon juice over the mashed bananas and blend with egg mixture. Add flour mixture and liquid alternately beating until smooth. Pour into a well greased and floured loaf pan. Bake on the center rack in at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from pan and cool on rack. |
