AUNTIE REE'S TORRONE 
COMBINE:

1 pt. white Karo syrup (one bottle)
3 c. sugar
3/4 bottle (Karo syrup bottle) water

Stirring constantly, bring the above ingredients to a boil on LOW heat. Boil until a teaspoon of mix set ups webs in cold water. Remove from heat.

BEAT:

5 egg whites very stiff

Pour candy mix into the stiffly beaten egg whites. Beat constantly while mixing.

STIR IN:

2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 lbs. (toasted) sliced almonds

Continue beating with wooden spoon.

Line a 9 x 12 inch pan if thicker pieces of torrone are desired (15 x 12 inch pan if thinner pieces are desired) - with a layer of "Fish Food". You may want to get several boxes of fish food. Some people crumble some of the fish food right into the mix. Be sure to save some for the top of the candy. Pour candy mix over fish food and cool. Cut and serve.
