SAUERBRATEN MEATBALLS 
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 1/4 c. water
1 pkg. Durkee brown gravy mix
1 bay leaf, crumbled
Dash of ground cloves
1/4 tsp. instant minced onion
2 tsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. brown sugar

Mix beef, salt and pepper and form 12 to 14 meatballs; brown in shortening. In 1 1/2 quart saucepan combine water, gravy mix and remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Stir frequently. Add meatballs, simmer 10 minutes. Serve over hot buttered noodles. Meatballs can be made smaller and served as hot canapes.
