SPICED RAISIN CAKE 
1 c. raisins
1 c. water
1/2 c. oil or 1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. nuts
1 3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves

Bring raisins and water to a boil; add oil and cool. Stir in sugar and egg. Add flour sifted with spices and baking soda. Add nuts and bake in shallow pan (8 x 15 inches) for 20 minutes at 375 degrees. (Stir all with spoon.) Easy to make and good.
