SPLIT PEA AND HAM SOUP 
1 lb. split peas, presoaked and drained
2 qts. water
3 stalks celery, sliced
1 ham bone, ham shank or ham hocks
1 bay leaf
1 sliced onion
2 sliced carrots
Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all the ingredients in the slow cooker. Cover pot, turn on low. Cook 8 to 10 hours, or until the split peas are tender. Remove ham bone. Slice meat off the bone and return the meat to the pot.
