OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE 
1 c. uncooked oatmeal
1 3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cocoa
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
2 lg. eggs
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Cover the oatmeal with boiling water and let stand 10 minutes. Cream together sugars and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat thoroughly. Sift together dry ingredients and add to cream mixture, alternating with oatmeal. Stir in 1/2 the chocolate chips. Grease and flour 9 x 13 pan. Pour in the batter and sprinkle with remaining chips. Add the nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
