APPLE-WALNUT COBBLER 
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
4 c. thinly sliced pared tart apples
1 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 well-beaten egg
1/2 c. Pet evaporated milk
1/3 c. butter, melted

Mix sugar, cinnamon and 1/2 cup nuts and set aside.

Place apples in bottom of a greased round or square baking dish, 1 3/4 inch deep. Sprinkle with the cinnamon mixture. Sift together dry ingredients all at once, and mix until smooth. Pour over apples; sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake at 325 degrees about 55 minutes or until done. Serve warm and top with cinnamon whipped cream or ice cream. Makes 8 servings.

NOTE: We double this recipe when making for a pot luck or a big group (except the nuts, just use 1 cup nuts) and bake it in a large 9x13 inch loaf pan.
