BLACKBERRY CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. blackberries (canned ones will do)
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. nuts

Use the juice that is with the berries. Cream sugar and shortening. Add beaten eggs, then berries. Sift all dry ingredients. (If adding nuts add with flour mixture.) Beat well. Pour into either two 9 inch or one 9 x 13 inch greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. This cake is good without icing.
