2 c. cream cornmeal
1 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 c. buttermilk
6 tbsp. chopped onion

Mix all dry ingredients. Add milk and onion to egg. Add to dry ingredients. Should be thick enough to drop by spoonfuls into hot fat. Fry until nicely browned. Drain; serve piping hot. Makes 25 puppies.
