HONEY-DATE BREAD | |
1/2 lb. (1 1/2 c.) dates, chopped 1 c. boiling water 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. honey 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 beaten egg 1/2 c. chopped walnuts Combine first 5 ingredients; let cool completely. Sift together dry ingredients. Add egg to cooled date mixture; then stir into dry ingredients. Stir in nuts. Bake in well greased, floured 9 1/2 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan at 350 for 55 to 60 minutes. Cool before cutting. |
