1 1/2 cups chopped dates 3/4 cup hot water 3/4 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 1/2 cup honey 1 beaten egg 1 tsp. vanilla 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda In saucepan, cook the dates in hot water for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the walnuts, butter and honey; let cool, then stir in the egg, vanilla, flour and baking soda. Pour into greased bread pan. Bake in preheated 325°F oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. |
