Yellow cake mix (ingredients to bake it)
1 qt. strawberries
1/4 c. sugar
1 pkg. strawberry pie mix
Cool Whip

Bake yellow cake as directed on the box and let it cool.

Clean strawberries and cut into pieces (keep about 6 or 7 whole berries for the top). Sweeten to taste (approximately 1/4 cup sugar). Mix berries with 1 package strawberry pie mix. Let stand 15 minutes.

In large clear glass bowl or bucket, crumble a layer of cake into bottom. Layer with strawberry mix and Cool Whip. Continue layering until mix is gone. Top with Cool Whip and decorate with whole strawberries. Keep cool.
