MELZA'S ORANGE GLAZE YAMS 
6 yams
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. orange juice
4 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
2 tbsp. cornstarch

Mix sugar and cornstarch, then add other ingredients and bring to a boil. Pour over cooked and sliced yams. Bake with glaze for 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees.

Syrup for sweet potatoes instead of yams: 1/2 cup brown sugar, 4 tablespoons water, and 1 tablespoon butter. Pour over potatoes. Bake and baste them.
