SOFT AND CHEWY PEANUT BUTTER
COOKIES

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/4 c. white sugar
1 c. butter, softened
3 lg. eggs
1 c. creamy peanut butter
2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a medium bowl, combine flour, soda and salt. Mix well and set aside. In large bowl, blend sugars using an electric mixer. Add butter to form a grainy paste. Add eggs, peanut butter and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture and mix at low speed until just mixed.

Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. With a wet fork (be sure to dip fork in water after each cookie as dough is sticky), gently press a criss-cross pattern on top of cookie. Bake 9 to 12 minutes. Transfer immediately to a cool surface.

Have the second batch in the oven now. They are wonderfully delicious! Although I did slightly tweak the amounts of sugar added. So glad I did! They would have been way too sweet. I used only 3/4 cup of White and only 1 cup of brown sugar. I also added chocolate chips to the batch. I will definitely make this recipe again!

8pm at night and my family wants cookies 1 week before we move and the cookbook I have used for 25 years is packed. The cookies were such a hit, they didn't make it through the night. All 24 cookies were gone by morning. You saved the day, thank you.

This appears to be the same recipe as Mrs. Fields. However, Mrs. Fields calls for baking 19-22 mins. These need more time in the oven.

I think this recipe is very good, my brother and I just made a batch a couple of minutes a go and my mom is like this recipe is very strange and because she said that is because usually you have flour in there unless its a no bake one but I told her to look and so we tried it and it is AWSOMELY FABULOUS!!!

Fantastic!!! I cooked mine at 325°F for 14 minutes - turned out incredibly chewy and soft in the center and lightly crispy on the edges. Delightful peanut butter flavor. Will be making these again and again!!

I'm blow away!!! I'm in love with this recipe especially because its a combination of sweet and salty. TIP to all those who want to spice it up a bit. Boil milk and add semi sweet chocolate and mix until u get a glaze and cover the cookies with the chocolate. Delicious.

I've found that with sticky doughs (such as this one) it's better to roll the dough ball in white sugar before putting it on a tray to bake. This way it's easier to do the criss-cross with the fork because you don't have to wet it, and it's a nice touch to the finished product.

These came out perfectly! I halved the recipe and added about 3/4 cup chocolates chips. They came out great! But they took more like 15-17 minutes. mmmmm thank you!

I increased the temp to 325°F as well, with stellar results. This is by far my favorite peanut butter cookie recipe. Will become one of my cookie staples!

Too sweet for me and I used Splenda! I would reduce the sugar to a smaller amount. I used 1 stick of unsalted butter. Also, I added more flour and covered my hands to mix the dough. I added walnuts and chocolate chips. I will adjust the ingredients to create a healthier cookie treat. The cookies were soft, but partly dough. Also, I increased the temp. to 325°F at 14 minutes and afterwards, let them rest on the cookie sheet. Overall, the cookies were okay.

I made these peanut butter cookies for the first time, and my family and I are hooked. These are so soft and chewy! My daughter asked for the recipe, and I told her to be careful because these are some dangerous cookiez! Thank you for our new family recipe.

I usually do not do reviews .. But when my 4 yr old said "these are the most best cookies ever" I had to agree with him and thought a review was in order. Although I did have to add about a 1/2 cup more flour as they were very sticky.. But then I rolled in sugar before placing on cookie sheet, which helped alot! I also had to cook at 325°F.. And it took about 16 minutes.. But they did not burn on the bottom and turned out perfectly!!
