ITALIAN CHEWS 
3/4 c. soft butter
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 2/3 c. sifted flour
3 egg yolks
2 1/4 c. light brown sugar
1 c. chopped walnuts
3/4 c. flaked coconut
3 egg whites, beaten stiff
Confectioners' sugar

Cream butter. Add granulated sugar and beat until light. Add flour. Mix well. Pat into 9 x 13 inch pan and bake in 375 degree oven for 15 minutes.

Beat egg yolks. Gradually beat in brown sugar. Add nuts and coconut. Fold in egg whites. Spread on baked mixture. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cut in 54 squares and dust with confectioners' sugar.
