ALMOND CHEWS 
2 c. quick oats
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. almonds, chopped (can use walnuts)
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, melted
1 can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 c. M and M's

Combine first 6 ingredients. Add butter and mix. Reserve 1 1/2 cups. Press remaining crumbs in jelly roll pan. Bake 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Combine sweetened condensed milk and almond extract. Spread over crust within 1/4 inch of edge of pan. Mix remaining (reserved) crumbs and M and M's. Sprinkle over milk mixture and press. Bake 20 to 22 minutes. Cool and cut until squares.
