OATMEAL MACAROONS 
1 c. shortening
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. molasses
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 c. quick cooking oats
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. currants

Combine shortening, salt, vanilla, cinnamon, molasses, sugar and egg; beat well. Add flour, oats and soda. Mix well. Stir in currants. Drop by teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.
