RUTH'S INDIA RICE 
2 c. raw rice
1 med. onion
1 1/2 sticks butter
1/4 c. raisins
1/4 c. sliced almonds
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. garlic
1/4 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 c. frozen green peas

Chop onion and saute in melted butter. Rinse rice and let sit with 2 cups water while adding to onion and butter next 7 ingredients. Add 4 cups of water and bring to boil. Drain rice and add to boiling mixture. After about 10 minutes, add frozen peas. Simmer until rice is done. Serves 8 to 10.
