BISCOTTI 
6 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 3/4 c. sugar
Dash of salt
6 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. anise seed
2 tsp. anise flavoring, optional

Blend first 5 ingredients well. Alternate adding 5 cups flour and remainder of ingredients. Roll and knead dough in 1 cup reserved flour until dough sticks, and is smooth texture. Form into 5 or 6 small loaves. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool slightly. Cut into 1 inch, diagonal slices.
