SPANISH CAKE | |
1 c. brown sugar 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 3/4 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 eggs (separated) Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks beaten with milk. Sift flour, baking powder and cinnamon with walnuts and add to first mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture. Bake at 350°F until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Ice with caramel icing. ICING: 1 c. brown sugar 3 tbsp. milk or cream 1 tbsp. butter Mix and bring to a boil. Add icing sugar until spreadable and add 1/2 teaspoon flavoring. |
