FIG CAKE 
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda (dissolve in 2 tbsp. hot water)
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1 c. figs, chopped
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
Powdered sugar

Beat eggs with mixer until thick and lemon color. Add sugar and oil; beat well. Combine buttermilk and soda; mix well. Sift flour and all dry ingredients. Add buttermilk mixture and flour mixture alternately, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla, figs and nuts; mix well. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool for 20 minutes and sprinkle on powdered sugar.
