MOLASSES SUGAR COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c Brer Rabbit molasses (I use King Syrup)
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt

Melt shortening in a three or four quart saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat; allow to cool. Then add sugar, molasses, and egg; beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt; add these to first mixture. Mix well and chill thoroughly. Form into one inch balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheets two inches apart. Bake in moderately hot oven, 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
