STRING BEANS ORIENTAL | |
1/2 c. butter & 1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. chopped onions 2 (4 oz.) cans sliced button mushrooms, drained (save liquor) 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained, sliced thinly 1/3 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 c. milk 1/2 c. mushroom liquor 2 c. cheddar cheese 2 tsp. soy sauce 1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce 1 can French string beans, drained Melt 1/2 cup butter in pan. Saute onions, mushrooms, water chestnuts; set aside. Melt 1/4 cup butter, blend in flour, salt, pepper. Gradually add milk and mushroom liquor, stirring until smooth over medium heat. Add cheese, soy sauce and Tabasco. In bottom of baking dish, layer 1/2 of sauteed vegetables, 1 can French string beans, drained, pour 1/2 cheese sauce over mixture. Repeat layer once again using remainder of vegetables and sauce. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle 1 (#3) can of crumbled French fried onion rings (use less than can). Return to oven for 10 minutes. |
