GARDEN SUPPER CASSEROLE | |
2 c. cubed soft bread 1/2 c. shredded cheese 2 tbsp. butter, melted 1 c. cooked peas or other vegetables 2 tbsp. chopped onion 1 c. cut-up cooked meat 3 tbsp. butter 3 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 1/2 c. milk Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix bread cubes, cheese and 2 tablespoons butter. Spread half of mixture in greased 1-quart casserole dish and top with peas. Cook and stir onion in 3 tablespoons butter until onion is tender. Blend in flour and seasonings. Cook until mixture is bubbly. Stir in milk and boil 1 minute. Stir in meat. Pour over peas. Sprinkle with remaining bread mixture. Bake 25 minutes uncovered. |
