LUCKY STARS 
1 1/3 c. flour, sifted
1 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
1/8 tsp. salt
1 egg, unbeaten
1 1/4 c. walnuts, ground
1/3 c. sugar
1/16 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. butter, melted
2 tbsp. water
1/16 tsp. maple flavoring

Sift together flour and baking powder. Cream butter; add sugar, creaming well. Blend in vanilla, almond extract, salt and egg. Gradually add dry ingredients; mix well. Roll out on floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with star-shaped cookie cutter. Place teaspoon of filling in center of each. Bring 5 points upright. Start at base; pinch sides together so points stand up, allowing filling to show. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes.

Makes 2 to 3 dozen.

NUT FILLING: Combine walnuts, sugar and salt. Add melted butter, water and maple flavoring. Mix well.
