BANNIK (INDIAN BREAD) 
4 c. flour
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
3 to 4 tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 c. water

Combine dry ingredients. Work shortening into dry ingredients. Add water. Knead on floured surface. Divide into 2 portions. Shape into 2 round cakes. Punch holes with fork. Bake at 350 degrees on cookie sheet. After 20 minutes, flip cakes over. Bake 5 minutes longer.
