FARMER'S APPLE PIE 
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. lard
2 egg yolks (save whites)
Milk
Crushed corn flakes
5 c. sliced apples, or more
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Butter

Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and lard. Mix egg yolks in 2/3 cup and fill with milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Add to flour mixture. Mix until dough shapes into a ball.

Roll 1/2 dough to fit 15 x 11 baking sheet. Cover crust with crushed cornflakes. Add apples, sugar, and cinnamon and dot with butter.

Roll out top crust and cover the apples and pinch edges shut. Beat egg whites until stiff and spread on crust. Bake 40 minutes at 400 degrees. Drizzle with 1 cup powdered sugar, mixed with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
