CHOCOLATE COVERED PEAR LAYER 
1 (9") layer yellow cake of your choice
10 canned pear halves, drained
1/2 c. corn syrup
1/4 c. hot water
1/4 c. butter
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 can pressurized whipped topping

Bake cake according to package directions. Slice each pear half into three equal slices. Arrange in circle around outer edge of cake. Combine syrup, water and butter in saucepan; heat to boiling. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate chips until well blended. Cool to lukewarm. Cover cake with warm glaze. Let glaze set before decorating with whipped topping.
