CHANUKAH COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract
2 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
1/2 c. sour cream

Mix shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla. Blend sifted dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Chill at least 1 to 3 hours. Roll 1/4 inch thick on well floured pastry cloth. Cut with cookie cutters and place on greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 425 degree oven. Makes about 4 to 5 dozen.
