We do something very similar. A layer of ground beef, then a layer of drained french cut green beans, then a can of cheddar cheese soup spread over, then top with tator tots and bake. Delicious!

I love it made this way... I also have a "variation: We use a jar of Beef Gravey(or two packets of dry mix)instead of soup and add a bag of mixed vegtables.....Cheese must go on the top! Can be topped with a few crushed "Ritz" crackers...

This was one of the favorite things my mom made when I was younger. My children love it. I add a can of corn or a small frozen bag of corn, adds a great taste and kids get a veggie.

I love tater tot casserole! Was first introduced to it by my MIL. I've made a few changes to call it my own, and it's a happy day for my husband when I tell him what's for dinner. ; )

MIL's version: Brown the ground beef with one sm/md chopped onion. Mix in one bag of froz mxd veggies, and 1C med. cheddar cheese. Mix in one can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup. Top with tater tots and bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

My version: Brown the ground beef with one sm/md chopped onion and as much minced garlic as you like. Mix in one bag of chopped, froz mxd veggies, and 1C sharp cheddar cheese. Mix in one can of Campbell's Cream of Roasted Garlic soup. Add some milk if mixture seems a bit thick. Top with tater tots and bake at 375º for 30-45 minutes. I don't bother layering the ingredients. I just mix everything together (except for tots) in the same dutch oven I browned the GB/onions/garlic. It's just as tasty and why dirty two pans? : )

Yummy yum yum!!

I only had 1/2 of bag of tater tots so I filled in the gaps with shredded frozen hash browns. Turned out great!

I add a layer of steamed California mix vegetables on top of the beef... Sooo good and adds vegetables to the mix. And tater tots could be substituted with fries and my mom has also used the crispy onion fries.

It's even better when you do a layer of sour kraut on top of the cheese and then another layer of cheese eon top of that!
