CROWN JEWELS 
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
1 c. flour
1 egg white
1 tbsp. water
1/2 c. nut meats, chopped
Red or green jelly

Cream butter and sugar, beat in egg yolk, stir in flour. Chill dough until firm. Roll dough into long strips about 3/4 inch in diameter. Cut strips across in about 1 inch lengths. Roll in hands it makes a ball.

Beat egg white with water, dip balls into egg white then into nut meats. Put into pan and flatten with thumb. Bake at 325 degrees about 10 minutes. Remove quickly and make indentations on top and fill with jelly. Bake about 10 minutes more.
