PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE 
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 can (1 lb. 4 oz.) crushed pineapple (well drained)
Maraschino cherry halves
1 pkg. Duncan Hines cake mix (yellow or pineapple)

Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Melt butter in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly in pan. Arrange drained pineapple and maraschino cherry halves on the sugar mixture. Mix cake mix as directed on the package. Pour batter over fruit.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 40-50 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes in pan for topping to begin to set. Turn upside down onto a large platter or cookie sheet. Serve warm with whipped cream or topping.
